So sorry to hear of Alan's death. I had lost contact after our cricketing retirements, but we reunited for drinks in Gosforth a couple of times before Covid and spent happy times talking about cricket and Alan's interests in history (he had a degree in Ancient History from Newcastle University). Many good memories of many years playing cricket for KOSA with him. Happy days.

I had no contact with him for many years, other than a short exchange via twitter, but nevertheless I was sad to see this notice recently concerning Al. We spent much time when at Blyth Grammar School playing cricket on the seafront (and also Subbuteo cricket) and later enthusing about Hi-fi and our early forays into jazz album buying at Uni in the 70's. I still remember helping him to cart a couple of loudspeakers back from the Comet Warehouse in Jarrow to go along with his first, Garrard, turntable. I still have old reel to reel tapes of our 'recording sessions' on my old Akai deck! I only actually saw him once after he and Liz departed for Slough but I still remember the old days with fondness.
