KathleenSMITH (COOPER)Kay Smith passed away peacefully with her children Graham and Sorrel by her side at Manor Lodge Care Home, Chelmsford on Saturday 20th August 2022, aged 96. We would like to thank all the Manor Lodge Care Home staff that have cared for Mum over the many years she lived there. Kay was born in Leeds to Gertrude Mary McCarthy and George Charles Cooper. She was the youngest of 3 children, with an older sister Ruth, and an older brother Kenneth. Kay attended St Paul's school in Hammersmith and achieved an Economics degree from the University of London and a Certificate in Childcare from the University of Leeds. She worked as a social worker in child placement. Wife of the late Ron (Ronald), Kay Smith was formerly of Writtle, Writtle Art Group and Writtle Bowls Club and leaves two children; Graham and Sorrel, and two grandchildren; May and Ash. A direct cremation has been carried out by Haynan Funeral Directors of Gravesend. A thank you to Haynan for their professional and personal approach.
