My mother Edna Turnbull, nee Smith is a second cousin of Russel, she has fond memories of them growing up together and playing on the Sele in Hexham as children. In later years they would often chat on the phone and Russel escorted my Mum to my daughter’s wedding after my father died. We shall always remember Russel as a gentle and kind hearted man who always went the extra mile to help all around him. Condolences to his family, with love Edna Turnbull and Steph Jameson, Hexham
