AnneSMITHof Delph Court, Great Harwood, died at home surrounded by family, on Wednesday, December 30, aged 96. Widow of Frederick Smith, she leaves six children, 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Anne trained as a teacher in Salford during the war. She loved her job teaching at St Hubert’s RC School in Great Harwood, where she worked for all her working life. Anne was a devout member of the Catholic Church. She was also very artistic, creating oil and water paintings, fine cross stitch, embroidered altar cloths and tablecloths, tatting, and pottery painting. However, her greatest interest was the lives and well-being of her large family. The funeral will be held on Monday, January 18, at 10.30am at St Wulstan’s Church, Great Harwood, followed by committal at Great Harwood Ceremony at 11.30am.
