Stephen AndrewSMITHIt is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Stephen (Steve) Andrew Smith on Saturday 17th August 2024.

Stephen was a loving husband to Carol, devoted father to Sarah, Chris, Ceri and the family dogs, Lady, Copper and Wyn, dear father-in-law to Laura and caring Grampy to Eirlys and Aderyn.

Stephen was a very intelligent and enthusiastic man who loved to make people laugh (nearly always achieving it!), and who could easily talk for hours to anyone about anything. Stephen spent his life taking care of his family to ensure they never went without, and made a tremendous impact throughout his working career.

Resting at

J. Pidgeon & Son (539 Cowbridge Road East, Cardiff CF5 1BD) until the service at Wenallt Chapel, Thornhill Crematorium (Thornhill Road, Cardiff CF14 9UA) at 12.30pm on Thursday 19th September, followed by a 'celebration of life' at Insole Court (Fairwater Road, Cardiff CF5 2LN)

Donations if desired to either the British Heart Foundation or Dogs Trust.

Steve was my first manager in my first job, he was a fantastic and impactful role model in my early career and life - he was highly intelligent, forever busy, but always found the time to teach and guide.

It was a pleasure to share those years with Steve.

I met Steve a year ago when I moved to Cardiff and started playing board games with the local groups. He was one of the first friends that I made and was kind enough to introduce me to a lot of good games, many of which I have bought myself. He had a lot of stories, a very unique sense of humor, and was someone that I enjoyed talking to. The Sunday before he passed, we spent over an hour in the car park outside Chapter at 10:30pm, discussing Dr Who, his trips to the US, some interesting people that he had worked with, and old TV shows. He made me feel welcome and I will miss him. The man with the red blanket. Rest in peace my friend.
