John AlanSMITHBorn in Lincoln on 23rd August 1941, passed away peacefully at home, in East Leake, surrounded by his loving family on 30th April 2026.
A beloved husband to Judith, a devoted and loving dad to Victoria and Lawrence, and a cherished grandad, John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
John's passion for aviation began during his school years and led him to his first role in the Air Traffic Department at Birmingham (Elmdon) Airport. His career as an air traffic controller took him across the country, working at many airports and dedicating himself to a profession he truly loved.
In retirement, John found great enjoyment in bowling, walking and travelling. He often reflected that he had lived a good life-blessed with a loving family, good health, a strong education, and a fulfilling career.
A service to celebrate John's life will be held at Loughborough Crematorium on Thursday 28th May at 12:30pm.
All are welcome to attend.
