MargaretSMITHIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Smith. She died peacefully surrounded by all family at Blackburn Hospital on the 9th August 2026 aged 89 years.
Beloved Wife of the late Leslie Smith, loving Mother to Ann, Gareth and the late Michael Keil-Smith. Devoted Grandma to Beth, Georgia-Rose and Dylan and Great Grandma to Cody.
Margaret who lived in Bacup for most of her life trained as a children's nurse in Pendlebury after leaving school. After getting married Margaret worked as a weaver at Haig and Hamer Cotton Mill in Bacup and left there to bring up her family and work in the family business.
Margaret was a very caring person who will be sadly missed and never forgotten.
Funeral Service to take place at Rochdale Crematorium on Thursday 27th August 2026 at 11.30am.
Family flowers only please and any donations to be split between Bacup Cancer Research Committee and Central Methodist Church.
