RobertSTABLESWithout a fuss (that was Robert) left us quietly and suddenly on the 19th March aged 69 years. Lately of Cockington Road. A very much loved younger brother of Jean, brother-in-law to Ken, uncle to David and family, also dear brother of Shirley, Brenda, Gordon and Victor. A very special, reliable, dependable and kind uncle and friend to so many. He will be missed beyond words. We are all simply heartbroken. Funeral service for Robert will be held at Bramcote Crematorium, Friday 22nd April at 4pm. Family flowers only. Donations if so desired will be greatly received for the British Heart Foundation also Alzheimers Research UK.

Very late to this tribute page but very much wanted to post a tribute to Robert. A dear friend from the age of 3 as we were close neighbours' and spent many years roaming the woods, canals and parklands in the Bilborough area, making things in his shed and taking things apart and getting into far too much trouble for our age!
We were both in the 1360 Air Cadets until 16 for me. We went different ways after that with work and pastimes and I later emigrated to Australia but always kept in touch on my visits back home and on one occasion when Robert visited Australia, In 2019 we completed the Coast to Coast walk together as Robert heard I was planning the walk in memory of my late wife Leisa. A beautiful walk with much laughter along the way and we planned another walk the year after, but Covid intervened so we had to put it on hold only to fail due to Roberts untimely death.
At the end of that holiday, I had the pleasure of visiting Robert at work at the University working on a Rolls Royce project.
It made me feel very proud to witness Robert's trajectory over his working life from humble beginnings.
A true friend and rare mix of qualities enjoyed and admired by all those that had the pleasure of knowing him.
RIP Robert,
Stuart Wilson

I knew Bob for 43 years, first meeting him when I moved to Thorn EMI back in 1979, he worked in a different office to me but came round looking for people to play in a 5 side football competition,I was only too happy to oblige. We then along with 2 other colleagues started to play squash every Tuesday night straight from work. From there we met up later to play snooker and go for a pint and started taking part in a music quiz, eventually the squash and snooker fell off only after meeting 2 other chaps at snooker. We called ourselves THEKAMIKAZE TEST PILOTS. From that day on the 4 of us met up for the quiz, only missing a week through holidays,
You will and are sorely missed but will never be forgotten. You were funny, honest, helpful, nothing was too much trouble for you and had a fabulous dry sense of humour. REST IN PEACE my true friend and mate

I only knew Bob for a few years, but during that time he has left me with very fond memories of him, be it working alongside him when he would share his vast experience in engineering and aerospace. Or the time we spent on an epic hike to visit the crash sights of unfortunate aircraft. Bob was one of the good guys and he will be missed.

Bob was a talented engineer, a colleague an good friend of mine at Nottingham University. He loved the outdoors and we went on walking trips to The Lake District and Snowdonia together. How sad the circumstances of his needless death. Oh how I'd love to be out with him again tramping over The Kinder Plateau.
