John AlbertSTAFFJohn Albert Staff of Goodwood, Bottesford, sadly left his beloved family on the 28th of May 2024, after a short but valiant fight against cancer, aged 75 years.

Loving husband of Christine, father of John and Robert, and grandfather of Austin, Alannah and Sadie.

John will be greatly missed by all, and has left an immeasurable void for his family and local community who adored him.

On the 10th of June 2024, a lap of honour will be completed around his 2nd home - Glanford Park followed by service and committal at Woodlands Crematorium, Scunthorpe at 10:40am.

The wake will be held back at Glanford Park from midday, where all friends and family are welcome to commemorate and remember John's life, for those wishing to pay their final respects and raise a toast in his memory.

Family flowers only please but donations would be gratefully accepted for the benefit of "Lindsey Lodge Hospice" and may be left following the service at Woodlands Crematorium.

Donations may be made at Glanford Park and will benefit "SUFC."

As a familiar face at Glanford Park, you always made my match day John, from when I was a very young age going to Scunthorpe with my dad, to when I went to matches on my own, I always made sure I got a half time raw chicken from you and were always so friendly.

In later years I have brought my own son to games and we would always stop to talk all things Scunthorpe with you. The history and knowledge you had was fascinating. I only very recently managed to buy a book from you which both my son and I have thoroughly enjoyed and it was great talking with you about how the club was formed.

You'll forever be in our memories, our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.

Up the Iron!

I knew John for many years as longstanding supporters of Scunthorpe United.
Living down in Northamptonshire I
always looked forward to meeting up with John on matchdays to share reminiscences.
He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him but he will never be forgotten.
His legacy at Scunthorpe United will continue.
Our thoughts are with Christine and his family

Very sad to hear of John's passing he was a colourful character eccentric in a good way and I found him a very interesting person. Scunthorpe United has lost a club historian and a very dedicated supporter I still have his signed centenary book he wrote and published what he didn't know about SUFC wasn't worth knowing. Thanks for the colourful memories I always smile when I hear a story about you John you were a real one off now the final whistle has blown sleep well Mr Scunthorpe United.
