RichardSTANLEYPeacefully in hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, July 20, Richard, aged 81, of Accrington. The devoted husband of the late Shirley, loving and loved dad of Paul, Louise, Sue and Tanya, cherished grandad of Michael, Gemma, Ryan, Jade, Natasha, Chloe and Kai, and a loved great-grandad. Richard, known to many as Dave, spent his working life as a skilled joiner. He loved his work and was a true grafter; he would always offer his services to his family and friends when they were carrying out home renovations. In his spare time, Richard loved to get away for some rest and relaxation, enjoying many trips to Spain, and also touring the UK with his beloved touring caravan. He was a well known face in the local clubs of Accrington, especially Sydney Street and the Dyers and Finishers WMC, where he could often be found enjoying a drink whilst catching up with his many friends. Richard was a family man and always looked forward to getting out for a meal with his nearest and dearest, and would often visit his daughter Sue in Guernsey, spending several weeks at a time. Six years ago, Richard made the move to Hereford Close in Accrington into a home that he could manage; this was a happy place for Richard and he spent many hours pottering around in his garden. Richard will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Richard’s funeral service will be held on Monday, August 1, at 12.20pm at Accrington Crematorium.
