My favourite Aunty… Liz, whom I loved dearly. Liz was my ally, my go to for advice. We spoke regularly on the phone and I loved our email communications. We were pen pals since I first learnt to write, 58 years ago!! initially with picture writing. You could say we started emojis! 😊
I loved coming down to Cornwall to stay with Roy and Liz. Liz had a wicked sense of humour, the best, so sharp. We had some giggles. And she did make the best fisherman’s pie.
Liz also came and stayed at mine in London many a time, but in particular she came to help look after my younger son who was going through cancer treatment a few times. He remembers it well..she had a magic way with children. An incredible kind, caring human.

I struggle to put Liz into the past tense. I will miss her so much. R.I.P.

Liz was a wonderful, thoughtful and intelligent friend.
She always told me that she would be the big sister I never had. And so she was.
We have shared some really happy times together, from just having a quick coffee, cat sitting for each other’s feline delinquents, even holidays in France, helping to keep Roy out of mischief.
When I went through a sudden and unexpected marriage break up, both Liz and Roy offered me tremendous emotional support. And I came out of that dark period in a much better shape than I had imagined I would.
She would insist on my attendance without failure for dinner on a regular basis. We would have long talks where she would fill me with good advice and even better fish pie.
For the last few months I had been half expecting a summons as a chauffer. I had previously driven Liz and Roy to Heathrow and back when they were off to visit Catherine or Claire to save them messing with other travel issues. We had discussed doing this again when they decided to head for Australia in the not too distant future. Her health permitting.

She was so lovely and it is so very very sad she is no longer with us.
Michael.
