John ErnestSTEELEDied peacefully at Coble House Nursing Home on 24th January surrounded by family at the age of 87 years. A loving husband for 63 years to the late Lucy Steele. Survived by children Elizabeth, Allison, Amanda & Christopher. He is also survived by eight grandchildren & seven Great Grandchildren. Born in Winlaton to William and Amelia Steele & Brother to William. He joined Swanhunter shipbuilders as an apprentice in 1950 till leaving as Chairman and Chief Executive in 1983. He was vice chairman of British Shipbuilders till closure before he moved on to various company Boards till retirement. Please meet for the service to be held at St Josephs R.C. Church, North Shields on 10th February 2023 at 11am with the committal to follow at Tynemouth Crematorium at 12 Noon. In lieu of Flowers please, all donations to go to RNLI and Salvation Army.
