Dr Peter Raynor MacdonaldSTEELEPassed away peacefully at the Countess of Chester Hospital on 28th January 2023, aged 79. Peter studied medicine at Queens College, Cambridge where he both qualified as a medical doctor and gained a PhD for his research into bacteriophage. He went on to be a Fellow at Queens College, Cambridge, lecturing in Pathology before moving to Chester in 1981 as a Consultant Pathologist. Initially based at the Royal Infirmary, he moved to the Countess of Chester Hospital in the early 1980's where he worked until his retirement in 2004. Peter was the dearly loved husband of Evelyn for more than 50 years, father to Sarah and Alasdair, and grandfather to four much loved grandchildren; Lydia, Edward, Olivia and Angus. Peter was well known for his lively character, intelligent conversation and generosity. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The funeral service will take place on Friday 17th February, 12:30pm at St. Mary's Church, Handbridge, Chester. Family flowers only please, donations in aid of The Hospice of the Good Shepherd will be very much appreciated.
