MaureenSTEPHENS(Nee Duckworth) of Heather Bank, Rawtenstall, passed away on Saturday, October 29, aged 88 years. Maureen started her working life at the Pricing Bureau in Manchester after leaving Stand Grammar School, Radcliffe. She married her husband Derek at St James the Less Church in July 1956 and then moved to Rossendale, where she started working at Turnbull and Stockdale in Stubbins. After that, she worked at Seville’s Bread in Waterfoot before moving onto Rossendale Combining, managing wages and personnel, which she loved and where she met many friends. She retired at the age of 60, after a long and happy working life. Maureen loved socialising with her family, many friends and travelling, where she had some amazing holidays with Derek, her family and friends Kevin and Doreen. Beloved Maureen leaves behind her husband Derek, daughter Deborah, grandchildren Paul, Emma and their partners Bethan, Joe and her much-loved great-grandchildren. Also, her brothers John and Bill, nephews, nieces and their families. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr Mackenzie at Haslingden Health Centre, the paramedics, and doctors at Royal Blackburn Hospital. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, November 11 at 1pm at Accrington Crematorium, by Father Lupton. This will be followed by a reception at Haslingden Cricket Club. Everyone is welcome.
