ArthurSTEPHENSONFormer Judo Instructor. Peacefully in Hospital on 19th July, Mac, aged 88 years, (of Great Ayton, formerly Middlesbrough). Beloved husband to Elsie and a dear friend to many and the late Harry in Australia. A celebration of Mac's life will be held on Thursday 28th July in St Bede's Chapel, Teesside Crematorium 11.30am. Will friends kindly meet at crematorium chapel. No flowers by request, donations if so desired to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Enquiries to Rea Funeral Service, Great Ayton. Tel: 01642 724796.

Sad news to hear of Mac’s passing. I was one of Mac’s Judo students back in the 1970’s. I spent many Saturday mornings running up to Roseberry Topping across to Captains Cooks Monument and back down into the village with him. Mac was a great teacher and mentor. His positivity and teaching style were ahead of the time. I have to say that I have successfully used the techniques he taught me on a couple of occasions.
