Mervin came to mind just now. I was at Loughborough University from 1983 to 1986. I still have great memories of Merv and Pete Jarman. I learnt the practicalities of theatre from him. I loved his humour and disdain for actors! As soon as the house lights were up he was off to the bar! I miss his "dear heart" and "petal" terms of endearment. I miss his kindness and support when I went through the breakup of my marriage. He was one of a kind. A unique spirit. A true character and someone I will never forget. I am glad I was there for his funeral, but sad that he went so young.
