Whenever I came into contact with Vern through work, whatever the reason, I smiled or laughed all the way through. Forestry England lost a dedicated character when he retired but now, so has everyone else. My thoughts are with Vernons family and friends. Gone too soon.

I’m truly shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Vernon. I send my sincere condolences to Sue and the family. It had been a while since I last spoke with Vernon, but it was always a pleasure when I did, to be greeted with a “big hand” handshake and a smile just as big. RIP. Vernon.
