Dave was a legend at Hem Heath Colliery. He would never ask you to do something he wasn't willing to do himself. He always put himself in danger before others when timbering holes. always free with advice and wisdom. Dave looked after me as a young official and I remember him as the best face overman I ever worked under. I learned so much from watching him do that job. A hard working man to the last. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him well.
