BasilSTREETIn Loving Memory of Basil Street

Basil sadly passed away at Loughborough Hospital on 15 May 2026, aged 91 years.

A dearly loved and devoted husband to Eva, Basil was her constant companion and greatest support. Together they built a life full of love, family and shared memories. He was a caring and nurturing father to Joanne and Lesley, always there with quiet guidance, encouragement and unwavering love.

Basil was a proud and much-loved grandad to five, and a cherished great-grandad to two little ones who brought him so much happiness in his later years. His family meant everything to him, and he took great joy in watching it grow through the generations.

Born in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire, Basil's early years shaped the hardworking, grounded man he became. He later moved to Loughborough, where he began his apprenticeship at Brush. What started as a job became a lifelong career - one he truly loved. Basil took great pride in his work and the friendships he made there, dedicating himself wholeheartedly over many years.

Outside of work, Basil found happiness in the simple, meaningful things in life. He had a deep love for gardening and took great pleasure in tending to his plants, finding peace and satisfaction in watching things grow and flourish. He also loved fishing, particularly for trout, and spent many contented hours by the water.
Rutland Water was his favourite place - somewhere he felt calm, happy and truly at home.

Basil had a warm heart and a gentle nature. He didn't need to be the loudest person in the room to be noticed;
his kindness, steady presence and quiet sense of humour spoke volumes. He believed in making the most of each day, appreciating life as it came, and finding joy in the everyday moments.

He was also a loyal and lifelong Nottingham Forest supporter, following his team with pride and enthusiasm
through the years.

Basil will be remembered as a loving family man, a hardworking and dedicated individual, and someone who lived his life with warmth, dignity and quiet strength.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on
in the hearts of his family forever.

Basil's funeral will take place on Friday 19 June 2026 at Loughborough Crematorium at 3.30pm.
