BBC GARDENERS WORLD NEC - ACANTHUS SPINOSUS!
I gave you the Latin name of this plant, you loved the sound of it, you kept practicing in saying it for weeks after, even when Harry Potter was on you thought it sounded as good as one of his magical spells! …. ACANTHUS SPINOSUS!! 🪄😂
‘Yes!’ You said with pride
‘Mine is going to have be … (wait for it… drum roll)
THE ACANTHUS SPINOSUS!’ 😂
The presenter, wide eyed, surprised, was really impressed
‘The Acanthus Spinosus?’ He said ‘Well that’s one I wouldn’t of thought of myself
….. And what about you?’ Said the presenter, turning towards me.
I looked at you, I knew that look in your eye, you was still grinning, staring back at me, smugly, as if to say, sarcastically, silently laughing your socks off within, without a spoken word
‘Yes Sue …. come on, beat that one, what is your favourite flower?’
I thought ‘There you go again!’, such a lovable tease, you threw me again, you always knew how to get me.
I couldn't move, I opened my mouth but nothing came out, except a pathetic nervous ‘Errr!’ … I just couldn’t answer the question. I was staring at you ….. Well that was it!
What with my delayed response and facial expression, it just set the both of us off! We just fell about laughing, we couldn’t stop!
The presenter looked really confused, puzzled, almost upset, thinking we were laughing at him, which we wasn’t.
He turned round and snapped ‘Well! I don’t know what I’ve said that’s so funny?’ And walked off in a huff, which made us laugh even more, … we laughed all day long about it and for days afterwards.
Sometimes it’s just those little, silly of things, the simplest of jokes you remember for years, which Rob was always good at.
We had some great chuckle times together, the type of good deep down belly laughs, that made you smile for days, priceless moments, he always made you laugh.
Acanthus Spinosus … always puts a smile on my face. Its always in flower on your birthday.
God Bless you my darling, miss you terribly, Happy Birthday xx
Sue
