TomSWIFTMr Tom Swift, of Rockcliffe Avenue, Bacup, died at home unexpectedly on Friday, December 3, age 91. Tom was born in Crawshawbooth and has lived in Rossendale all his life. He started work at Rossendale Transport as an apprentice aged 14. Tom loved his job, and stayed there until his retirement. He was a keen bowler and played for many different teams in Bacup, Whitworth, and Stacksteads over the years. More recently he played for pleasure and has spent many happy hours on the local greens. Tom was a family man, he was generous, and loyal, and would do anything for anyone. He was fun-loving, never lost his sense of humour, and loved to tell his tales. Tom was married to his lifelong love, his late wife Irene, up until her death 10 years ago, they had many happy years together. Tom is going to be sadly missed, but never forgotten, he will live on in our hearts, and in the stories we tell. He leaves his daughter Andrea, son-in-law Mark, his grandson Thomas and partner Paige, and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Megan, nephews and nieces, and friends and neighbours. A funeral service will be held at at 1.45pm on Wednesday, December 29, at Burnley Crematorium - all welcome. Please donate to your favourite charities in memory of Tom, and raise a glass.
