Robert HenrySYKESOur hearts are saddened with the passing of Bob, who lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday 19th June 2024, with his beloved wife by his side, aged 74 years. Devoted husband of 49 years to Pauline, precious dad to Nathan and Sam, precious father in law to Angela. Adored grandad to Ethan, Riley, Freddie, Jenson and Georgia. Treasured brother in law to Carol, Mick and Barbara, and a very dear friend to many. Funeral service to be held at Trent Valley Crematorium, Aston on Trent on Friday 19th July 2024 at 2.30pm. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired are invited for the Nightingale Macmillan Unit at the Royal Derby Hospital. These can be made online at www.georgesimnett.co.uk or may be given at the service. 'You can shed a tear that he is gone, or you can smile because he has lived'. We have fond memories of Robert; from when he came to live with us for a short period as a child and the many visits Uncle Harry and Auntie Phyllis made with him to our home, forward to the beginnings of his football career and onwards to his many successes with Pauline and family, His strong personality and good nature will be sadly missed. We had some great times together, always ready to have a laugh, to enjoy simple pleasures but mostly ready to be himself. We’re going to miss you, Bob. There’ll be a massive gap in our lives but we’ll be thinking of you. RIP
