JeffreyTAYLORJeff Taylor of Pendle Road, Great Harwood passed away in hospital on November 2, aged 79 years. Jeff sadly leaves behind his dearly loved wife Jean, his much loved children Kathryn, Christopher and Julia, his sons-in-law Graeme and Craig, and his grandsons Oliver and Angus. Formerly of Oswaldtwistle and Accrington, Jeff started his working life at Allspeeds, Clayton-le-Moors, where he trained and qualified as a cost and management accountant. Following 27 years at Allspeeds, he also worked at Taymar, Stockport, before ending his career prior to retirement at Preston North End Football Club. Jeff always enjoyed books, which led him to open a second-hand book shop, The Bookshelf in Warner Street, Accrington in the late 1990s. This venture was one of his life ambitions, which combined his love of books, with his love of meeting people. During retirement, Jeff enjoyed watching football, being a season ticket holder at Accrington Stanley. His other interests were gardening, theatre, films, brass bands, live performances and holidaying around Great Britain. Jeff’s funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 16 at Antley Methodist Church, Accrington at 1.15pm, conducted by Reverend Matt Smith followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium at 2.20pm. Family flowers only, but donations are welcome in memory of Jeff for the East Lancashire Hospice or the North West Air Ambulance Charity c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services.

Jeff, the most wonderful , kind , funny man and one of the main reasons my dad had so many blooming books I had to find homes for! Thanks to him for always being a part of our lives , for being a great family friend, for lending me his car on my many desperate visits to Accrington and for sorting out my mum and dads finances and making all things so much easier for us . He will be sorely missed . RIP Jeff x
