THE REVD CANON JOHN WILSONSlipped away very peacefully on 17th May, aged 93. A Church of England minister for over 60 years, John worked as a parish priest in churches across Bristol, starting as a curate at St Mary's Fishponds, then becoming the Vicar at St Francis, Ashton Gate, before being appointed as the Rector of Holy Trinity Parish Church in Horfield, where he was made Canon of Bristol Cathedral. He was the Chaplain at Bristol Hippodrome throughout his working life. A huge personality with a lust for life and a great sense of humour, he will be missed enormously by his family and many friends. John's funeral will take place at Bristol Cathedral at 2pm on Wednesday 1st June. All welcome. No flowers please but donations can be made to St Peter's Hospice.
