JohnTHIRDEMr John ‘Malcolm’ Thirde, husband of the late Dilys Thirde, and formerly of Park Road, Waterfoot, passed away peacefully at Dove Court, Burnley on Sunday, July 19. Malcolm enjoyed 27 years of being married to Dilys and fondly remembered many family holidays together with their two sons. He will be sadly missed by his sons John and Neal, daughters-in-law, Kirstie and Danielle, and he was a proud grandfather to Gretel, Dixie, Jack and Max. Malcolm also leaves his brothers Phillip and Trevor and sisters-in-law Joan and Karen. He was a lifelong Burnley supporter and a keen sportsman, playing cricket for Rossendale Grammar School Old Boys and captaining both Waterbarn Cricket Club and Pendle Forest Cricket Club. He also played golf at Bacup Golf Club and Towneley Golf Club and was also a former member of the Goodshaw Golf Society. Malcolm started work at JH Lord Accountants, moving to be Office Manager at Inghams Boxes and later as Company Secretary at JJ Ormerod. He also had a spell running the family chip shop in Stacksteads with Dilys, following the retirement of his father Jack and mother Ethel. Family flowers only, please, but donations direct to the RNLI are very welcome. Funeral director: Paul Swarbrick for Knight and Boys Funeral Services.
