FlorenceTHORNTONMrs Florence Thornton, of Booth Road, Stacksteads, died at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Friday, January 27, aged 90 years. Florence was born in Stacksteads where she lived all of her life and worked with her husband in the shoe industry for many years. She enjoyed playing golf and was a former Lady Captain of Bacup Golf Club, continuing to play until she was 82 years of age. She had a love of travelling and enjoyed holidays with friends all around the world. Widow of the late Gerald who died in 1991, she leaves her daughter Susan and son-in-law Andrew, grandson Simon and his wife Anne, grandson Daniel and his wife Rebecca, great grandchildren Arthur, Willow, Alice and Luna, sister Mary, nephews, nieces, neighbours and many friends. A service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Stacksteads on Tuesday, February 7 at 1pm, followed by interment in Bacup Cemetery at 2pm conducted by Rev Derek Allen.
