Thanks for the memories - always full of wise words and never short on good humour. We are glad that Joan was able to spend time meeting Rory and Elsie before she passed. We’ll miss you very much and will raise a glass tonight. Paul and Victoria Thomas x

Joan was my dad's cousin ( John Hacker) and Betty was my godmother. I remember Joan in her younger years as always smartly dressed with high heels. We had a lunch out with Betty for her birthday about 5 years ago, which was a pleasure. We shared a love of St Ives in Cornwall, and when visiting about a year ago, we looked at some photographs together. Joan was of the generation that you got on with life whatever it brought. Rest in peace. Reunited with Ted, Betty and Bob, at last. Sue and Peter Wiles

Joan, a lovely lady and good friend with a marvellous sense of humour to the end. Happy memories of our many drives and laughs with Betty to and from Sidmouth. Rest in peace. Ed x
