WinnieTOMLINSONPeacefully at Hope House on Friday, February 26, Winnie Irene Tomlinson passed away in her sleep, aged 96. Devoted and loving wife to the late John Tomlinson, loving mother to Brian, Peter and Pauline, loving mother-in-law to Marie and Lesley, cherished gran and great-grandma, also a good friend to many. Winnie spent her younger years starting out in the RAF guiding in the planes. Later she met John and set up home in Church and started a family of two boys and a daughter. When the family grew up she took her place at St Nicholas School, Church as a teaching assistant, where she enjoyed many a field trip with the children. In her later years she took to looking after the grandchildren and spending time with the family. She had a love for gardening and flowers. On a weekend she would take to crosswords and puzzles to keep her busy. She was a strong minded person with very strong views on right and wrong. Winnie had a kind heart and will be deeply missed. Flowers are welcome in memory of Winnie and are being received at the funeral home. If anyone would like to make a donation, these are being gratefully received on behalf of Hope House Care Home via the funeral director. Due to current restrictions, a private invitation only funeral service will be held at All Saints Church, Clayton-leMoors. Funeral director: Champ Funeral Services, Clayton-le-Moors.
