Anthony (Tony)TOYEPassed away 25th June 2021; aged 85 years. The funeral service will take place at Cannock Wood Methodist Church on Friday 16th July at 11.30 am followed by Cremation at Cannock Chase Crematorium at 12.30 pm. Family flowers only by request. Donations for the ongoing work of St Giles Hospice may be forwarded to Funeral Directors: John Short & Son 3 High Street Chasetown Burntwood WS7 3XE. Owing to Covid restrictions, attendance will be by invitation only.

When I first met Tony as a new suitor to his granddaughter I would have been inclined at first to describe him as stern, even a little intimidating in appearance. My nerves and uncertainty certainly deceived me.

Over more than 10 years I learned to know and respect a man with much experience, a warm heart, a wry sense of humour and above all a strong and enduring faith.

Through all of the time I knew him he remained steadfast and loving presence. I’ve enjoyed each and every moment I’ve been able to spend in his company. I am truly honoured and blessed to have been a part of his world and of his family.

Rest in peace external Father Grand. The heavens will welcome you with song and joy.

Dad, just to say thank you for being there through all my life, rough and smooth, sad and happy times. I could always rely on you for love and support. We’ve done so much together over the years and I have so many memories to cherish. I’m so proud of your preaching and of the man you were. Words can’t tell how much I will miss you, but I know you are resting peacefully in God’s presence. Guten nacht as you would say. Xx

There was this ‘honest-to-goodness’ ‘down -to -earthness’ ‘spade-is-a-spadeness’ about Tony (both as a person and a Preacher) that earned him the love & respect of all who knew him!
God bless you old friend - we’ll miss you!
Thoughts & prayers to Gerion Emily Amy...& of course Christopher in the States..& all of their families.
