I only briefly worked at Papworth between 2013-2015 and have only just learnt of Claire's passing in the acknowledgments section of Stephen Bridge's book 'The Battles Fought'. What a remarkable lady Claire was. Her professionalism and commitment to Papworth was absolute; a real tour de force and a great loss to the hospital and NHS as a whole. It's a great shame she did not get to see the New Papworth that she invested so much time and effort in uniquely creating. My thought are with her Family and her former colleagues. Its great to here of the staff support fund setup in her memory. A wonderful lady.

I only learned last night of Claire's passing but wanted to pay tribute. I spent nine years seeing Claire every last Thursday of the month for Papworth board meetings and had enormous respect and affection for her. I enjoyed her dry sense of humour and was impressed by her drive as she took on ever increasing responsibilities at the Trust. To her family and close friends, I am so sorry for your loss.

Who’d have thought when we first met and I showed you around Papland on your first day that ours was to be a friendship that would have lasted almost 30 years?
Sadly for us it should have been so much longer. Girlie weekends without you seem unbearable right now. Although we will carry on our journeys without you I know you’re never far away encouraging us on in all sorts of mischievous ways and surrounding us with your warmth and love. We are going to miss you like crazy... you truly were and always will be simply the best
Love you Clairebear ??

Claire has been such a wonderful friend to all of us. We met after her son Sam cut my son Joey's hair at nursery. The poor nursery staff were so worried about our reaction but we both just laughed and from then on we've been laughing a lot. We all have beautiful memories of camping, driving along beaches to 'Tie me kangaroo down' (before Rolf was dodgy!) with the children piled in the back and mad balmy evenings spent at Tanglewood being given more and more food, the irish in me appreciated this.
To memories of potatoes and warm socks and the love she generated, bringing all of us together, her spirit will live on in her lovely children. Love Kathryn, Tunc, Joey and Elsa xxx
