To seven Husband to one.
What’s it all about Alfie, Hey There and ’You are my sunshine were songs you have sung.
Working hard to provide and care, what little you had you did but share.
Five boys, and two girls you had to play, caring for us with mum day to day.
First son Andrew he arrives, that’s an ugly-looking , we hear you cry (only Joking) …
First comes Andrew small but loud, nevertheless you were very, very proud.
David’s next your brown-eyed boy, you look at him and cry with joy.
Next comes Jim your ginger-headed Bab, but boy was he such a crab
Ginger-headed Robert he arrives next, full of curls and lots of lip.
Andrew, David, Jim, Robert, we hear you call gee yer mum peace come outside and play with the ball.
Then came Denise, mum jumped with joy, thank goodness not another boy.
Along comes Anne, yes, another girl to share Denise’s toys, but more to worry about than those blessed boys.
Then comes Barry the baby of them all, he’ll get spoiled we hear them call.
Never again and as we shed a wee tear, will you speak the words “Jesus Christ, it’s freezing in here,”
You were the best Husband, Dad, and Grandfather, you taught us the value of work, judgement, courage, and integrity. We wonder if
we ever thanked you and Mum for all the sacrifices you made, and the teaching you gave us to make us who we are today and for all
the simple things we shared like laughing, smiling, dancing, singing, and playing.
We are thanking you now and hope you knew all along, how much you were loved and meant to us all. Please tell Mum when you get
to heaven. We love her too. From your favourite seven.
Anne
