I am so very sorry to hear of Gordon’s passing. He and Gwyneth were such good friends to me and the Eaton family in the 1960s and 1970s. My deepest condolences. Duncan

Gordon was "Doc" to his many St John Ambulance friends who enjoyed his training sessions. CPR to the Doc meant Coffee Please Regularly when out on event cover with the Maccle3sfield Division.

Dr Varley was not only a caring GP but found time to be the Chair of Trustees of Lyme Green Settlement looking after the disabled ex-servicemen living there.

I am also privileged to have had Gordon as a friend and mentor for many years.

All the members of St John in Cheshire join me in sending our deepest sympathies to Gwynneth and his family.

so sad to hear this. Dr Varley was our family doctor when i was growing up ( i am now nearly 54 ) my mum used to say he was always so patient and kind. he was there when i had my teeth out , the old fashioned way with gas. and he was visited me when i was heavily pregnant with my second child ( he did tell me off then, for doing too much ) Condolences to all the family. RIP Dr Varley. fondly remembered. Jackie Marchant.
