VIC YORKEwas a rugby league player who achieved legendary status at York.
He made more than 360 appearances at prop forward for the club, his hometown side, between 1954 and 1967.
But he was best remembered as a record-breaking goal-kicker.
He held a number of club records including the most points in a career at 2,159, the highest number of goals in a career at 1,060, and the most goals in a game – 11 against Whitehaven in September 1958.
He also set records for the most points and goals scored in one season.
Born in York, he graduated from the Old Priory Youth Club side to sign for York RL at the age of 20 in 1954 and went on to enjoy a 13-year career with the club.
The former soldier also represented Yorkshire.
Mr Yorke died at the age of 75 and was survived by three daughters, Lynda, Sharon and Jackie, and two sons, John and Ian.
