I have such fond memories of Mr Warren. Me and my 3 sisters attended in the 70/80's. It's incredible to think back on what he achieved with the school choir. We travelled all over the place to compete, and performed in Derby Cathedral and on Radio Derby - a fantastic opportunity to give us Derby city school kids. He played a piece of classical music every morning and had a special board where he hung the name of the music and the composer. I gained my lifelong love of classical music from this man. What a wonderful gift to give a child! Thank you.
My condolences to his family. This wonderful man lives on in the music he gave to generations of children.

So sad to hear of Mr Warren's passing.
I have very happy memories of my years at Ravensdale school in the 1960's. I remember the kind, warm encouraging atmosphere that Mr Warren cultivated. It was a very inclusive school and I was a member of the school choir; even though my voice wasn't that good, I too was encouraged to sing about the 'Critian Soldiers'.
And who remembers that choral competition at the Albert Hall where we lost out to a choir that had a piano accompaniment?Mr Warren was still unhappy about that when I called in on him a few years ago!
I am especially grateful to Mr Warren for getting me interested in music and helping me learn the recorder; an interest that I still enjoy today.
A real privilege to have been taught by him.
Deepest condolences to his family

I just learned of Mr Warren's passing. He was a very kind man who made an impression on so many people. Like another poster here, I remember him instructing us to lose the "s" of "Onward Christian Soldiers", too!

My condolences to his family. My thanks to Mr Warren for his contribution to my life and those of so many ex-Ravensdale pupils.

Mr Warren was a brilliant person, a delightful, twinkling personality. He will always be remembered for his kindness and tolerance, his enthusiasm, his love of music and the terrific sense of fun which he shared with everyone. He seemed to take a personal interest in every child, and always remembered who they were, long after they left school. He was definitely a legend around Mickleover, and will be sadly missed.
Sincere condolences to all the family.
