Lorraine AnnWATKISSWATKISS (Nee Jenkins) Lorraine Ann 1958 - 2007 Sadly we announce the peaceful death of Lori -Ann on July 20th at her home in Glendale, Los Angeles. The loved and devoted wife of John and most loving mother of Laurence and Elena. Lorraine formerly of Pen-yr-Heol Drive, was the cherished daughter of Marian and Terry, and the loving sister of Carolyn and Katherine. She was greatly loved by her Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and her many friends for her kindness, gentleness, and patience. Lorraine, bravely and uncomplainingly, fought a very long and painful illness. She maintained her dignity and sense of humour throughout her battle, and endeared herself to all the medical staff and others who attended her in hospitals and at home. Lorraine's memorial service was held on Friday July 27th, at St Georges Episcopal Church, La Canâda, California. It was a very moving occasion when many heartfelt tributes were paid to her. A gifted artist, some of Lorraine's artwork was on display, including her many paintings of angels. This was her sustaining project, undertaken despite her pain, during the latter years of her illness. Her friends knew her as "The painter of angels", and she died in the city of Angels - Los Angeles.

I was a dear friend of Lorraine. I met her when she was an art college student in Swansea, and I was a musician in a band called 'The Lost Boys'. I met her at a party in her house. She was doing face make-up for everyone. After she did mine we went walking around the Uplands in the dark. I remembered there was an apple tree in the overgrown back garden of a house where I once lived. I sneaked in whilst Lorraine looked on. I climbed the tree and picked her an apple.
We talked all night till the sun came up.
We had a fabulous summer. We had a great day out to Caldy Island in Pembroke. She got seasick on the boat! and had to lie down in the compartment of the train all the way back.
She was such a wonderful poetic, strange, exotic fun loving, kind person. No-one was ever kinder to me. It is a tragedy she was taken from us, and a personal tragedy to me. Bless you dear Lorraine.
