The Glint of your Glasses
A life well loved,
yet so much more to love,
Well read - and read well.
As Student and Teacher we will remember you:
The poet, your acerbic wit,
Funny and analytical
Intellectual and political.
Your repartee, the twinkle in your eye, the glint of your glasses.
Your smile.
You loved Byron and Keats
the minds of Lennon
and Dylan -
even when the answer’s still blowing … but the question’s unknown.
A fan of music, plays, films and books
Lines and lyrics painting the truth.
Your turntable, ever spinning, your stylus consuming the broadsheets (with Northern Echos of local scene),
Submerged in underground vibes, never following the herd, Searching for the undiscovered,
Listening for voices unheard.
So you will be remembered Stan,
a loving husband, father, grandad, brother and friend.
A family man; you played with style in life, partnered by your loving wife.
You left the field so early,
And how we wished for extra time.
Rest in Peace Stan
With love,
