The obituary notice of Richard WESTROP

Richard was a wonderful man and I will always remember him with great affection. I first met him over 40 years ago when at university with Carol. Richard, 'Mr Westrop' to me then, was very friendly when we first met, and l think he always remained optimistic and positive in how he lived his long life.
I remember Richard's kindness helping us when we moved into an old farmhouse that was almost derelict - we would have been lost without his expertise at renovation! I admired his creative talent greatly in photography and woodwork especially. Richard very kindly gave me a beautifully crafted mirror and a really lovely Welsh spoon that he had carved. Both gifts are very precious, l will treasure them always.
Characteristically Richard was cheerful and unfailingly stoic in his last months, I understand he gained many friends in the residential home who sang in his honour a beautiful farewell hymn. Richard was much loved, he will always be very fondly remembered by all those who knew him.
