SusanWHALEN(Nee Smith) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan on Tuesday, December 3rd, aged 72 after a short illness in hospital.
Susan was born in Clayton-le-Moors and lived in Rising Bridge for many years before moving to Accrington, where Susan lived for the last 50 years.
Susan was wife to Bill for 51 years, mother to Stuart and Helen, grandmother to Laila, Xander, Penny and Sadie, sister to Marian, cousin to Diane and auntie to Deborah and Karen. Susan worked as an SRN firstly at Fairfield Hospital then later taking on the role as a health visitor and towards the end of her career as a family planning nurse. She was a prolific reader, including Danielle Steel, Rosie Goodwin among many others. She enjoyed music of all kinds, holidays abroad, in particular the Canary Islands. She enjoyed trips to Scotland to visit family and friends. Susan devoted her life to her family and will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
The funeral will take place at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, December 20th at 2.20pm.
