StephenWHARRAMIt is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Stephen at the age of 79, following a brief and bravely fought battle with cancer.
A devoted family man, Stephen leaves behind his beloved wife Diane, his two children, Richard and Victoria, in-laws Toni-Amanda and Shaun, brother Roland and four cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Max, Ben and Olivia.
He will be deeply missed by the wider Wharram family, home and abroad (Australia) and the countless friends he made throughout his life.
Stephen was a cornerstone of the Hessle community. For 63 years, he was the familiar, welcoming face at Wharrams Florists on Northgate. Starting in the shop at just 15 years old and taking the helm at 23, floristry was not just his career, but his lifelong passion. A true gentleman known for his hard work, gentle nature, and wonderful sense of humor, Stephen was there to support generations of local families through both their happiest celebrations and their hardest times.
The Funeral will take place at Haltemprice Crematorium, Willerby, on Friday 5th June at 3.30pm.
Before the service, Stephen will make his final journey past his family home in North Ferriby, and then past his beloved flower shop on Northgate, Hessle.
In a fitting tribute to his lifelong dedication, the family will be personally creating all the floral displays for his service.
He will be remembered always for his warmth, his kindness, and his familiar smile.
Any donations in lieu of flowers, would be greatly received to Dove House Hospice.
