AllenWHEATLEYAllen Wheatley, of Lowe View, Waterfoot, passed away on November 10 at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 88 years. Allen was born in Stepney, East London in 1936. When war broke out, Allen aged three and his elder brother Arthur were evacuated from London to Northampton. They remained there into their adult life. Allen started work as a model last maker for the footwear industry in Kettering. It was then on a holiday with his mates to Blackpool, he met Joan who, from Durham was also on holiday with her friends. Following a long distance courtship they married in 1959. A few years later they moved due to Allen’s job and came to Waterfoot in 1966. Where he continued as a model last maker in Whitewell Bottom. Allen was a keen gardener and in his spare time was always in his garden. Allen leaves behind his wife of 65 years Joan, daughter Anita and her husband Carl, son Paul and his wife Tracey, grandchildren Jenna and her husband Graham, Jack and his fiancée Ci, Lucy and her fiancé Anton, great grandchildren Luca and Orla. The funeral will be held on Friday, November 29. The details are: 11.45am at Fred Hamers, 12.15pm at St Peters RC Church, Newchurch, 1.45pm Burnley Crematorium, then followed by a wake at The Rose and Bowl in Stacksteads.
