DerekWHITHAMformerly of Oakhurst Avenue, Huncoat, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, January 6 at the Springhill Nursing Home, Accrington, aged 70.
After leaving school, Derek was an apprentice at JT Rothwells, Church, then went on to serve in the Royal Air Force. After leaving, he worked at University College London, then returned to complete an HND in Business Studies at Bolton Institute. He worked at a number of training establishments until poor health brought about retirement.
Being the eldest son of the late May and Basil Whitham and brother to the late David. Derek leaves his brother Neville, sister-in-law Alison, niece Amy and beloved cat, ‘Felix’.
The funeral will take place at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, February 2 at 11.40am, with a reception after at The Peel Park Hotel.
