My Grandad was a very honourable man. And whilst I'm very sad that he’s no longer with us, I can’t help but be filled with this utmost sense that he was definitely being celebrated in Heaven when he went home. He was one of the most loyal men I know, married for almost 60 years, battled in the war (and almost got killed doing it). He was quiet and gentle, but strong in conviction. He made a promise and he kept it, even for over 80 years. I so wanna be like that, integral and reliable. He also loved a good squeezy hug and always laughed after we did, he was joyful and content. As you can tell I admire him a lot, and I’m very thankful for his legacy. Rest in peace Grandad.

Over the last 20 years I had met John on quite a few occasions. He would always put me right where Sileby History was concerned. John was especially helpful with his opinions on the Sileby Heritage Exhibitions. A very quietly spoken and friendly gentlemen, He will be truly missed
