MargaretWILKINSON (NÉE THOMPSON)Margaret WILKINSON (NÉE THOMPSON) It is with broken hearts that the family of Margaret Wilkinson (née Thompson), announces her sudden but peaceful passing at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Sunday, February 12, aged 73 years. Margaret was the cherished and loving wife of Peter, precious mum of Martin and Andrea, treasured step-mum of Andrea and Joanne, devoted grandma of Brandon, Molly, Loui, Finlay and Flynn and a much-loved great-grandma, sister, sister-in-law, auntie, cousin and beloved friend to many. Before moving to Green Haworth and Oswaldtwistle in later years, Margaret grew up on Emma Street and India Street, Accrington. After leaving Holy Family School, she worked in a variety of places including the family bakery and shop on Blackburn Road, Express Gifts, The Wool Centre, Wills Fabrics and latterly enjoyed working as a receptionist at 2BR Radio Station where she worked with her daughter before retiring to enjoy more time with her beloved husband. Margaret was a wonderfully kind and caring lady who had a fabulous sense of fun, she was the life and soul of every party and was totally devoted to her family. She had a heart of gold but it’s fair to say she didn’t suffer fools lightly! She enjoyed days out looking around markets, loved to go on holiday - especially cruises and visiting her family in Australia. To relax she enjoyed reading and doing jigsaws. A funeral service will take place at 1pm on Thursday, February 23, at Accrington Crematorium. All are welcome to attend and join the family afterwards for some food and drink and to remember Margaret. Family flowers only please, but donations may be made in Margaret’s memory to North West Air Ambulance, c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
