Peter GeorgeWILKINSONWith great sadness we announce the passing of Peter George Wilkinson, on Saturday 11th April 2026.
Peter passed away with his wife and daughter by his side, at the East Lancashire Hospice, aged 70 years.
Peter was a loving and devoted husband to Julie for over 46 years, and a much-loved father to Claire.
He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Noah, Inès and Mathieu, and his son-in-law Nicolas.
Peter was born in Accrington to Eileen and Albert, and lived in the area his whole life.
He spent many happy times in Denia, Spain, where he and Julie have a holiday home.
Together they enjoyed travel and went on a number of cruises over the years.
Recently they enjoyed a special trip to Venice. Peter was a keen walker, and loved being in the outdoors with friends, both in England and in Spain. He was a lifelong supporter of Burnley Football Club,
attending matches with his daughter and grandson.
Peter qualified as a Quantity Surveyor whilst working at Salford Council from 1978 to 1990.
He then went on to work for RBS group until his retirement in 2014.
Whilst at RBS he worked as a Project Manager on construction projects, which took him around the world,
and during which time he made many good friends. He was a Fellow of the RICS.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends in the UK and in Spain.
Peter's funeral will take place at St Anne's RC Church, Cobham Road, Accrington,
on Thursday 23rd April at 10am, followed by burial at Accrington Cemetery.
Family flowers only please. Donations in Peter's memory can be made to the East Lancashire Hospice.
