LesWILLIAMSOn Saturday 12th June, at home with his daughter and granddaughter by his side, Les Williams, (Francis Street and Graigwen Crescent Abertridwr and Gospel Male Voice Choir) passed peacefully into heaven at the age of 94. Devoted husband to the late Beryl, a dearly loved father to Sharon and Philip, loving grandad and great-grandad and much loved brother of Margaret. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. His thanksgiving service will take place at Gorsley Baptist Church on Tuesday 13th July at 11am. Sadly due to government guidelines, attendance will be by invitation only. Anyone interested will be able to watch Les' thanksgiving service on Gorsley Baptist Church YouTube from 11am on Tuesday 13th July. Family flowers only, donations in lieu for Great Oaks Dean Forest Hospice may be sent care of Smiths Funeral Services, Furnace Lane, Newent GL18 1DD

I have very fond memories of Uncle Les & Auntie Beryl from the Caerphilly Elim days of the 1960s and 1970s. Phil and I were good friends as kids and I spent a lot of time at their welcoming home at 40 Francis Street, Abertridwr. I was glad to have reconnected with Sharon a few years back and visited Les on 2 or 3 occasions since. Les was a man of faith and now his days of suffering are over and he’s gone home, to his real home in Heaven. Of course our thoughts & prayers are with Sharon, Philip and the rest of the family at this difficult time.
