Mary PatriciaWILSONpassed away peacefully in The Grove Care Home, Burnley, on Friday, April 17, aged 100. She was formerly of Blackburn Road, West End, Oswaldtwistle. Upon leaving school Mary stayed at home and assisted her mother in raising her two sisters and three brothers, a task she continued with into her married life. She was a very good cook and baker, along with being adept at sewing and knitting. Mary married her late husband Jack and their lives changed considerably once Jack got his first car - they loved going out for a picnic on numerous country runs. She liked to visit her relatives in Flint, North Wales, and they were members of Spring Hill Car Club for several years. When the opportunity arose Mary and Jack enjoyed ballroom dancing. They loved holidaying - Tenby, Barmouth in Wales and Port Patrick in Scotland all being favourite destinations. Mary was the wife of the late Jack, mother to Keith, Olwyn, the late Janette and Pamela, grandmother to Paula, Rachel, Andrew, Rebecca, Jacqueline, Ian and Graham. She was also great-grandma of fourteen and great, great-grandma of two. A private service and cremation was held at Accrington Crematorium on Thursday, April 30. Donations to Dementia UK.
