Grannie, you live on in us. You are constancy, partnership with Grandpa and leadership. You are chocolate crispy cakes, day trips, gardens with beautiful flowers and being read to at dinner. I shared Custard the dragon with William the other day, which he loves, and Hairy Maclary has been a constant companion in our lives. At your golden wedding celebrations you were in your element, sharing your amazing achievements of your marriage and friendships with everyone. You said that you wanted a happy occasion to bring people together, as so much of the time the gatherings were funerals. It's hard as this is partly about saying goodbye, but I'm doing my best to remember you from that day, and from all the days that combine together into the image of your ruling the roost from your kitchen stool. Thank you for being there for me, and especially for telling me to look after myself when I needed it. Thank you for sharing your love. I'm so glad that you are not in pain anymore more. You've been, and will continue to be, an inspiration to me. What an amazing life you have lived, and your legacies are felt not just in your family but also in your causes and the lives of those you have touched, supported and inspired. A time to every purpose under heaven, and can only hope to use my time and purpose as well as you. I love you. Becca
PS I found this iris growing wild in the verge below our house yesterday, and thought of you and your picture of the irises. When I can, I will go and sit in the rose garden that I told you about, and think of you.
