ShirleyWOODWOOD, Shirley. Died on Saturday, 1st Nov- ember, 2003, in the Lincoln County Hospital after a protracted illness. Shirley was brave throughout her treatment for cancer, her sense of fun never diminished; although the treatment was aggressive she re- mained strong and fought all the way to the end, the doctors and nurses warmed to her charm. Wife of Major (retd) Derek Wood MBE. She was proud to be the wife of a soldier, was loyal throughout the 50 year relationship and much loved by Derek, their four children and seven grandchildren. She was the most wonderful wife, mother and nanny, she was always there for us all and we were all there by her bedside all through the long night whilst she fought to remain with us. We told her of our love for her. Derek is heartbroken, will miss her love, honesty and charm, always a great team together and devoted to each other. Rest in peace my darling Shirley.
