DenisWOODRUPMr Denis Woodrup died peacefully at Royal Blackburn Hospital on Saturday, April 16, aged 71, after a brave battle against illness. He lived in Stacksteads all his life. Denis worked as a joiner at B&E Boys for many years, and later at W R & V Howorth and Son. He was widely respected for the quality of his work. Many people still remember the excellence of the jobs he did for them. He was a keen supporter of Burnley Football Club and greatly enjoyed rock, blues and soul music. He travelled all over the country, as well as to Spain and Holland, to attend live gigs. He also kept racing pigeons along with his father, and was a member of Stacksteads Flying Club at Rosemount WMC. Denis was a loving husband and a proud father and grandfather. He leaves behind wife Barbara, daughter Susan, and granddaughter Charlotte. He will leave a huge hole in our lives. He was the son of the late Harry and Eva Woodrup. He leaves his sister Christine and her husband Brian, and his brother John and his wife Julie. He also leaves his Aunty Hilda, Uncle Frank and Aunty Kitty, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and great-nieces and nephews. The service will be at Burnley Crematorium on Thursday, May 5 at 2.30pm, with Rev Derek Allen.
