ABOUT ROY'S LIFE Roy Wooff, born in Clitheroe 13th November 1949. Son of Joseph and Hilda Wooff and brother of Sandra. He attended Edisford Primary School then followed on to Ribblesdale County High School.
After leaving school he served his apprenticeship in woodwork and cabinet making at Ferns Joiners of Clitheroe and shortly afterwards worked at Bowker Brothers Furniture Manufacturers until it’s closure.
Roy then gained employment at Settle for Wood with former work colleagues, these were the colleagues which he didn’t put in the glue or feed dog food sandwiches to (he only did these tricks to the ones who had upset him for whatever reason)!
He ended his working life at Stalwart Carpets until it closed which then triggered his retirement.
Roy married Alison and together they were blessed with four children Michael, Paul, Joanne and Denise, he is also Gramps to Dixon, Morgan, Elle, Leo, Declan, Finlay, Xander, Tiger-lily, Samson-Jo, Stuart and Alex also step Gramps to Johnathan and uncle to Stuart.
Roy later met his long-term life partner Sheila whilst on his beloved allotment where he spent much of his leisure time, closely followed by his love of cage birds and tending the garden at the family home, he also had a love of dogs and when younger raced whippets.
Roy enjoyed lots of days out, especially Appleby Horse Fair where if he wasn’t spotting all of the horses and dogs, he would be checking out the dolly birds! He bravely fought throat cancer with much courage and dignity until unfortunately found it difficult to eat. After many years of happiness with Sheila enjoying their retirement, he sadly passed away very peacefully at home with his family.
